Labour Day in Canada is celebrated on the first Monday of September. It celebrates workers’ rights to campaign for better working conditions or pay.
The Kamloops & District Labour Council represents approximately 13,000 unionized workers from many different types of unions in the Kamloops area covering Merritt to Valemount and Chase to Lillooet.
Each year the Kamloops & District Labour Council sponsors a Labour Day Picnic to celebrate and raise awareness on the importance of unions. Local unions and organizations get together with informational booth, games, face painting, and other fun activities, including a barbeque and live music and entertainment.
