2026 Wiener Dog Races at the Kamloops Storm Game
The Kamloops & District Labour Council is excited to announce the return of the Wiener Dog Races at the Kamloops Storm vs Merritt Centennials game on February 7, 2026, at the McArthur Island Sports Centre in Kamloops.
This crowd-favourite event has become a fun tradition that brings together hockey fans, families, and the labour community for an evening that is equal parts entertainment and solidarity. Few things unite a crowd faster than a pack of determined dachshunds sprinting across the ice, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Beyond the laughs and photo finishes, the Wiener Dog Races are about building real connections between local unions and the community we live and work in. Events like this give unions a positive, visible presence outside of the workplace and create opportunities to engage with families, young workers, and the broader public in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
It is also a chance for union members themselves to come together, celebrate our shared values, and enjoy a night that reminds us that solidarity is not just something we practice on the job site or at the bargaining table. It is something we live as a community.
The 2026 Wiener Dog Races are proudly sponsored by:
- Kamloops & District Labour Council
- CUPE BC
- CUPE 900
- CUPE 3500
- IBEW 993
- IUOE 115
- UA 170
We invite everyone to join us on February 7 for great hockey, great company, and one of the most entertaining intermissions you will ever see.
Because nothing says community solidarity quite like wiener dogs racing on ice.
If you are a member of an affiliated union, you can request free tickets for yourself and your family using the Ticket Request Form.
