Canada Day 2025: Unions Built Canada and Keep It Growing

July 1, 2025

This Canada Day, the Kamloops & District Labour Council is proud to celebrate the workers who built our country and continue to keep it running every day.

From the railways and roads to schools, hospitals, and homes, Canada was built by working people. Union members have always been at the heart of this work. They fought for fair pay, safe workplaces, and strong communities. Because of unions, we have weekends, paid holidays, and important protections on the job.

Today, unions are still helping Canada grow. Whether it is in construction, health care, education, or public service, union workers are getting the job done. They care for the sick, teach our children, build our homes, and keep our towns and cities running.

Unions also stand up for fairness, equality, and better lives for everyone, not just union members. We believe in good jobs, strong communities, and a future where no one is left behind.

On Canada Day 2025, we thank all the workers who built this country and those who keep it moving forward. We are proud of our past and ready for the future.

Unions built Canada. Unions keep it strong.

In solidarity,
