Honouring the Past: KDLC Donates to Pleasant Street Cemetery for Day of Mourning

June 4, 2025

In a gesture of solidarity and remembrance, Curtis Laverty of IUOE Local 115 presented the donation on behalf of the KDLC to Cary, one of the dedicated caretakers at Pleasant Street Cemetery. This location was our gathering place for our Day of Mourning ceremony this April 28, where we came together to reflect, grieve, and renew our commitment to safer workplaces.

IUOE Local 115 has recently taken a leadership role in seeing to some maintenance and improving the cemetery, recognizing the importance of preserving this historic and symbolic space. Their efforts include supporting site upkeep, minor upgrades, and ensuring the grounds remain accessible and respectful for all who visit to pay tribute.

The KDLC extends its sincere thanks to IUOE 115, Cary, and all those who help keep the spirit of remembrance alive. Our shared history is built not only on the work we do, but on how we care for those who came before us.
