Kamloops & District Labour Council Presents $5000 in Bursaries

July 7, 2024

The Kamloops & District Labour Council (KDLC) is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s bursaries. Five exceptional students have been awarded bursaries totaling $5000, each receiving $1000 to support their educational pursuits. These bursaries are awarded annually to students who are members or relatives of members of unions affiliated with and in good standing with the KDLC.

The 2024 bursary recipients are:

  • Ayden Norton Matt, recipient of the Bill Ferguson Award, which is dedicated to students pursuing a field of study in trades.
  • Elissa Ony, recipient of the Cindy Friedmann Award, which supports women pursuing studies in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or trades.
  • Mackenzie (Katie) Franks, Elizabeth Pawliuk, and Sydney Bailey, each receiving a General Bursary for their academic excellence and commitment to their studies.

These awards reflect the KDLC’s commitment to supporting the education and professional development of students connected to the labor movement. The bursaries help alleviate the financial burden of post-secondary education and encourage students to continue striving for academic and professional excellence.
