2025 KDLC Bursary Awards

June 18, 2025

The Kamloops & District Labour Council is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s KDLC bursaries, awarded to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to both education and the values of the labour movement.

Jessie Gobin, a member of IBEW Local 993, has been awarded the Jack Kersson Bursary in the amount of $1,000. Jessie’s involvement in the labour community and dedication to advancing her education make her a deserving recipient of this bursary, which honours the memory of long-time labour activist Jack Kersson.

Anna Dokshina has been awarded the KDLC General Bursary in the amount of $1,000. Anna’s application stood out for her academic goals and alignment with the principles of solidarity and social justice that guide the work of the labour council.

“Supporting the next generation of workers and labour leaders is essential to the continued strength of our movement,” said Lois Rugg, President of the Kamloops & District Labour Council. “We are proud to invest in these individuals who are building both their futures and a better future for all.”

KDLC is proud to support the educational journeys of both recipients and looks forward to their continued contributions to their communities and the broader labour movement.

Congratulations to Jessie and Anna on this well-deserved recognition.
