Kamloops & District Labour Council Hosts Annual Shoe Memorial
On December 6, the Kamloops & District Labour Council gathered at the Kamloops Heritage House for our Annual Shoe Memorial, held on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
This event honours and remembers the lives of girls, women, and those who identify as women who have been missing or murdered as a result of gender-based violence. Shoes displayed with care and respect remind us of the real people behind the numbers and the urgent need for change.
A short ceremony at noon offered time to reflect, remember, and recommit to action for safety, equality, and justice.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create a respectful space. The labour movement has a role to play in ending gender-based violence, including supporting survivors, strengthening community partnerships, and speaking up for safer workplaces and safer communities for all.
We are sharing these photos in memory, solidarity, and continued commitment to action.
