Thanksgiving Message from Kamloops & District Labour Council (KDLC) President Lois Rugg
Dear Members and Friends,
As we gather with our families and loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to reflect on the values that define this holiday and the significance of our collective efforts as members of labour unions.
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the blessings in our lives, and chief among them are our families. They are the foundation of our support, the source of our strength, and the reason we strive for a better quality of life. It’s in the warmth of their embrace, the laughter shared around the table, and the bonds that hold us together that we find the true meaning of life’s abundance.
Quality of life is something we all cherish. It’s about having the time to be with our families, pursue our passions, and enjoy the fruits of our labor. It’s having access to healthcare, education, and fair wages. It’s about feeling secure in our jobs and our communities. Our unions play a pivotal role in securing these fundamental aspects of life.
Belonging to a union is not just a matter of employment. It’s a commitment to a larger community that fights for the well-being of all its members. In our union, we stand together, advocating for fair wages, safer workplaces, and better benefits. But it’s not just about what we gain individually; it’s about what we achieve collectively.
Our labor council is a family of families, working tirelessly to make our community a better place. Together, we advocate for workers’ rights, social justice, and economic equality. We strive to create a society where every family has the opportunity to thrive.
This Thanksgiving, let’s pause to appreciate the blessings of family, the significance of a high quality of life, and the strength that comes from being part of a union. Let’s remember that our collective efforts not only benefit us but also contribute to the well-being of our entire community.
On behalf of the labor council, I wish you all a joyous and fulfilling Thanksgiving. May our families continue to thrive, our quality of life continue to improve, and our union remain a force for positive change in our lives and the lives of those we serve.
In solidarity,
Lois Rugg,
President, Kamloops & District Labour Council
